#BullCon17 – Things to Do in DC and Getting Political

Things to do in DC while you're at The Bullish Conference, the career summit of the year.

There’s no better time than now to be hosting a conference for feminist badasses in Washington DC. Not only is DC filled with amazing places to eat, beautiful sites to see, and eclectic boutiques to shop at, but it’s the perfect opportunity to set up times to meet with your representatives in person and get your voice heard. We’ve curated a list of a few places to eat, sight see, shop and information on reaching your representatives below.

Get Political:

Get political with feminist career and life advice from Get Bullish. Plus take advantage of your time in DC for BullCon17 to meet with your reps

If you’re interested in getting political while you’re at BullCon17, there will be plenty of time before and after the conference to do so. The actual conference seminars and workshops will take place mainly on the 3rd and 4th, which leaves you time to schedule appointments with your reps and make your voice heard. If you’d like to contact them, here’s a super helpful guide  from the NAACP about getting in touch with your representatives. If you want to see your reps in person, the guide recommends attempting to make an appointment several weeks (read: several months) in advance.

Stuff to Eat:

If you’re like us, you plan whole trips around where and what you’re going to eat. No shame. Foods before dudes… and everything else for that matter.

We’ve put together (with the help of Embassy Row Hotel) a list of a few places near the venue that will have your mouth watering.

Duke’s Grocery– a great place to grab a burger or a sandwich in a modern, laid back atmosphere.

Jack Rose Dining Saloon – for our Whisky lovers, this saloon features over 2,500 whisky(ey)s on the wall. A more intimate choice, this spot is perfect for grabbing a quite bite to eat and sampling some new spirits.

Rose’s Luxury – This spot has been labeled one of the best restaurants in the US and features small plates and family style food.

The Soupergirl – A healthy vegan-friendly spot to grab lunch. This mom and daughter shop offers healthy options with natural, locally sourced ingredient. Plus we love the name.

Sightseeing:

Lincoln Memorial

Obviously, DC is full of historic sites and beautiful monuments and memorials. Check out Washington.org’s 8 Must See Memorials.

The conference takes place at Embassy Row Hotel, which is … you guessed it on Embassy Row! You can check out the international side of our nation’s capital.

Looking for a little culture? The Dupont Underground is coined as a multidisciplinary platform for creative expression. Previously used as a streetcar system and later a fallout shelter, this underground space is a fascinating and very cool artistic spot to check out.

Shopping in DC:

Dupont Circle is a perfect place to do a little shopping spree, it’s filled with cute boutiques and chic shops.

KramerBooks and Afterwards Cafe is an introvert’s dream. This indie bookstore with a cafe/bar attached has been open for 30 years and is a much-loved location for some quiet time.

This Washington.org article showcases some of the best places to shop in Dupont Circle.

Our hotel is also nearby the Georgetown area, one of DC’s oldest neighborhoods. Georgetown is also known for it’s fashionable shopping center. Check out the cute shops in this Washington.org article here.
